Commissioned as a videographer, graphics design, and main technical editor for a virtual graduation program

A year after I graduated from my high school / senior high school, I was contacted, along with my friend, for a big project. Essentially, it was 2021 and COVID was still at its peak at the time, so outdoor events were very restricted. This forced the school to hold its graduation in a virtual environment.

I, along with my friend Patrick Pimentel, were one of the more prominent people to be called regarding projects like these due to our exemplified skills regarding photography, videography, technical editing, and overall any project related to media.

I believe it was around a 2-3 week long project of planning, creating scripts, setting up the workspace and tools such as the cameras, the monitor, and the green screen, the recording and video proper, the technical editing, renders, and revisions.

I don't want to make it sound like the output was only made by the two of us. It was a collaboration of different faculty members, teachers, and some volunteer students. We made a PowerPoint template, and some students worked on taking the list of graduation students and filling said template with their names and images. Other faculty members delegated connecting with other teachers for things such as the list of graduates, and creating/collecting other clips to be included in the program such as the prayer and messages of guest of honors.

At the end of the project, two outputs were made, the Virtual Graduation and the Virtual Recognition.

The Virtual Graduation showcases all graduating students, while the Virtual Recognition is a much shorter program aimed to showcase students with honors and other recognitions.

The outputs consisted of the whole program, from the national anthem, the prayer, the school anthem, messages from different notable persons, and the main program.

The Virtual Graduation total runtime of 2 hours and 25 minutes, while the Virtual Recognition had a total runtime of one hour.

While tiresome, it was definitely a fun experience where we get to solidify our media and editing skills even more, given the system of many people working and us having to consolidate all of those things.
