This was one of my life's main highlights- becoming a technical editor for our TV Broadcasting team in Cavite National High School - Senior High School, English category. While I was a school journalist even before as a photographer, being a technical editor elevated the game. Instead of just being one with myself and my photo subject, I became cog in a system, a part of a team.
One was a scriptwriter. Two were studio reporters. Three were field reporters. All took part as camera men. I consolidated everything into a single output.
I believe this further solidified my experience with technical editing, since this was mainly competitive. Before, I edit videos on my own pace. Now, I am working under pressure. The constant nudging of my team mates to adjust their clips, the constant revision of the script, making sure that the animations wouldn't randomly cut off, all of that within a time pressure. And the fear of technical issues behind by back, such as random freezing of my laptop (which happened A LOT) or internet connection issues which was equally important because we communicate and get news clips/images online.
Our team competed and won the DSPC (Division School Press Conference), where we became the representatives of Cavite City for the RSPC (Regional School Press Conference).
2018 DSPC Entry
RSPC
As representatives of Cavite City for the TV Broadcasting (English) category of the RSPC, the pressure is even greater. We would be competing with other regions within Luzon. With that, we had several trainings to further enhance and master our crafts.
RSPC 2018 Entry
Even as someone who's competing first time in RSPC as a technical editor, I managed to bag 7th place as best technical editor in the TV Broadcasting (English) category.
Below are some of our team's training outputs:
